Rematches.
Here’s my idea on rematches. They’re a waste of time. Floyd Mayweather said it best, “Get it right the first time”. I bring this topic up because some of my MMA fighter friends, talk about rematching someone they beat or they lost to, whatever. Me personally, I do not care for rematches, especially at a white, blue, purple, and eventually a brown belt level. It’s not even in my realm of thinking. I use the loses I do have, to make me better, not to go on stupid revenge missions to avenge a loss at a low level. But again my goals are different. I want to become a black belt world champion, I am pretty sure I wouldn’t mind re-matching some who is, say, in my division, who beat me at blackbelt, I want that top spot baby!! Also someone I beat twice, told me to goto a tournament he’d be at, so we can do it for a third time, lol, he’s a great fighter, all our matches have been tight, but I ain’t in it for that.
The point is, whatever your goal is, MMA, BJJ, be worried about fighting the guys who are at the top of the mountain, not the guys who are starting out at the bottom, like you. I could careless if i lose at these belts. It will just mean that I have a lot to learn if I want to knock off the king of the absolute and pesado division at black belt.
Just thinking about brown and blackbelt make me just feel that I have a lot of getting better to do!
