Tuesday... training, and working out.
So i started working out with one of training partners from our affiliate academy. And i must say, my legs are dead weight. Let me first say I start the day (Tuesday), doing the morning no gi class, which involved us doing alot of drills, and situational training, which was taxing too a certain degree. I’d like to think i can roll for a long time but No-Gi really kicks my butt. So it was...

Ronaldo Jacare v. Roger Gracie
This is my favorite Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu match of all time! Its probably the one of the biggest things that pushed me into doing BJJ. And also (saw this when i was stationed in Iraq in 2006) this was when Jacare became my hero in Jiu-Jitsu.Anyway I think alot of people will agree this was one of the top 3 greatest matches ever, due to what happens. Thrilling, Drama and MUCH ACTION! ENJOY!Part One! ...
Confidence...and bad day for injuries (not me)
Let me first just say, today at class just seemed like injury day, i feel horrible, because i hurt someone at least i think i did by the disgusting sound. So sometimes people from outta town show up at our place to roll, and this guy was sitting around for a while, so i asked him to roll, he didn’t have a gi, so whatever, were doing our thing and i was going pretty light, swept him, passed,...
Training...Almost back to 100%
The last few days for classits been open mat training. On Monday i was still feeling like a bunch of crap wrapped up in a bag, and it wasnt any fun. I had the “Post cold” deal going on, like i wasnt sick but i had a headache like i was. Weird! Ive been working on a new half guard that i get into from time to time. The deep half guard, alot people use it to transition into a X-guard...

Im sick..Maybe overtraining ?
I think I’ve been pushing myself a little to hard the last couple of days. I went super hard these last couple of days (Monday + cardio, Tuesday which was a double session, and Wednesday). I came in on Thursday already feeling kind of sore with the new schedule. This week we’ve done more open mats, and Thursday was no different. I came in and pretty much flopped because of how bad i...

Im a leader but i follow my team..
Iffy news, the personal trainer, Keith Jeffries who i thought i was going to have, has had real big injury, and i wont be able to get his services, which is a real bummer. Im more concerned with his health, and having him back as a training partner. The kid is also awesome at jiu-jitsu and is a very talented purple belt. He reminds me of The Legendary Roleta with the guard he play. I wish him a...

Training Fitness, and upcoming tournament.
One of the hardest things to do is wakeup and do your morning workout. What makes it easier for me is knowing someone else is getting up early to do what im doing, and preparing just like I am. So i kept it simple this morning and ran for 3.3 miles, took me around 32 minutes to complete. It was nice and easy, didnt want to over do it, but i did add some sprints when i did the hills along my...
11 weeks out. Training and things to look forward...

So I have wonderful news… I just purchased my tickets for California today to compete in the IBJJF’s Pan-Ams at blue belt!!! Im soooo PUMPED, it feels like im competing tomorrow or something. Just a few years ago when i was in the Army and started grappling i instantly fell in love with it. I took some beatings because i couldnt afford BJJ as a Private (Very poor soldier in the army)...
Random thoughts on attitude in bjj.
Random thoughts on attitude in jiu jitsu or as a euphemism for life. The way people thinkabout Brazilian jiu-jitsu is just so annoying for me, and i need to get this out lol.My basic understanding of jiu-jitsu is that a person weighing 140 pounds can manipulate his/her opponent in such a way with proper technique to be successful in a street fight or just grappling in general. So when someone who...
