First day back training!
And it felt good. No pain at all! Only problem I have is the swelling, which makes it hard to bend my knee past 180 degrees. It was 11 or 12 Days, no bjj, no sweating, no nothing. Needless to say I have a ton of work to do if I am to get back to Abu Dhabi.

Promotions. If you want to be legit you should be...
A bunch of people whining about promotion, and they’re not even up to par with the people who hold the rank that they want.
If it hurts. Take it personal.

Rough stretch..
These past few months have been pretty rough on me physically. Since the end of the November, beginning December I’d say, until now have been rough. I remember being sick and missing training bjj somewhat. Then a week later I wrecked my knee and got bad news from my MRI. And so I completely couldnt lift weights anymore, and had to take it easy during training. And I am a guy who likes to go...

The Most Basic Program In The World
Yesterday was the first day back doing squats since the beginning of december because of the injury I had to my knee. And to get back into the flow of things,I will use this very simple program from Greg. http://www.cathletics.com
By Greg Everett
I’ve written down this same program so many times for so many people, I thought it would make sense to put it down here for other people to use....

This pisses me off.."kicked off team"
So as many folks may know, I traveled to compete in Abu Dhabi earlier in the year. I met some great and wonderful people, people who today I keep in contact contact with. These guys are my friends in life and in bjj.
So one of my friends from Australia, had a coach kick her off the team because, he said that she didnt really like bjj because a she wanted to do was win medals. And aparantly she...
Being on injured reserves is the worst..I’m getting fat.. grrr..and I feel like my power/stamina bar is being depleted day by day.. I think I am going to do something stupid tomorrow and test this knee out..
Annapolis Kid's Martial Arts - Lessons from Danny...
A few years ago I went down to Maryland to train with one of the best Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competition teams in the United States - Team Lloyd Irvin. In Annapolis, I was able to see the kid’s martial arts classes of the great and awesome Danny Ives - a Team Irvin black belt. I was able to train at 88 BJJ with Julius Park, and also at Lloyd Irvin’s main academy in Camp Springs, MD....

This old knee..
So I jacked my knee up in training again today..If I could count the times Ive hobbled out of that practice room..lol
Simple scissor sweep and it locked out and that’s all she wrote. I don’t mind injuries too much, It forces me to train and play bjj a different way, thus discovering something more about myself.
Right now from my MRI, the cartilage is degenrating or disappearing. My...

Bodybuilding in BJJ.
Derrick Johnson who is one of Americas best Olympic lifters currently breaking a shit ton of US records. If you don’t look good you wont lift good, and if you look at a lot of these lifters you wouldn’t even think they lift weights. Derrick “goes into the gym to do some bodybuilding which is under appreciated in Olympic [weight lifting]”
Derrick goes on to say that, if...

“Where there’s discomfort, there’s fear,” he said. “In these very tough positions, you’re in a little piece of hell. And through this daily suffering, you learn to survive in these situations. You have to find comfort in the uncomfortable situations. You have to be able to live your worst nightmare. Jiu-Jitsu puts you completely in the moment where you must have complete focus on finding a...

Rematches.
Here’s my idea on rematches. They’re a waste of time. Floyd Mayweather said it best, “Get it right the first time”. I bring this topic up because some of my MMA fighter friends, talk about rematching someone they beat or they lost to, whatever. Me personally, I do not care for rematches, especially at a white, blue, purple, and eventually a brown belt level. It’s not...

Fight of the year candidate..
Might be JT Torres vs Celso Vinicus.. If you understand how many times Celso has been a world champion, and how hard JT has been working to get to that World podium..Experiencing this live was amazing.

I will be honest about Trials. I ain’t there to fight the best guy. I am there to win a spot at the main championship event. Got to approach those events in a very professional manner, probably even more so then a ibjjf event, or maybe not. But I have a different view on trials.
By the way. I am on the juice…apple juice that is…

New Cean and Jerk PR 230#!
Did more sets then was prescribed. Felt really good and didn’t want to waste the day. My snatching I desperately want to get better at. I am still relatively new, and have a goal of 205#. I have to remember I have been cleaning for almost 2 years and really only got into a real Oly program, but my time will come. =) I want a 260 clean and jerk.

adacon asked: Reading your posts it seems you put a lot of emphasis on physical training and physical preparedness for a competition in lieu of your jiu jitsu. It's probably different competing at the highest levels, but it doesn't sound like you emphasize your jiu jitsu so much in preparation. What's your jiu jitsu training like before a competition? I'd think I'd like to put in more...
